Former President Ronald Reagan told the truth to a world made weary by
lies. He believed truth was the only platform on which a better future
could be built. The truth is Godly wisdom, reflected by his many
biblical references.
Lest we forget the lessons President Reagan taught us, here are a few
of his many inspired statements not being mentioned by godless media:
"I
believe with all my heart that standing up for America means standing
up for the God who has so blessed our land. We need God's help to guide
our nation through stormy seas. But we can't expect Him to protect
America in a crisis if we just leave Him over on the shelf in our
day-to-day living."
"Without
God, there is no virtue, because there's no prompting of the
conscience. Without God, we're mired in the material, that flat world
that tells us only what the senses perceive. Without God, there is a
coarsening of the society. And without God, democracy will not and
cannot long endure."
"We
have to keep in mind we are a nation under God, and if we ever
forget that, we'll be just a nation under."
"To
those who cite the First Amendment as reason for excluding God from
more and more of our institutions every day, I say: The First Amendment
of the Constitution was not written to protect the people of this
country from religious values; it was written to protect religious
values from government tyranny."
"I've
always believed that we were, each of us, put here for a reason,
that there is a ... divine plan for all of us. I know now that whatever
days are left to me belong to him [God]."
"Helping
each other, believing in Him, we need never be afraid. We will
be part of something far more powerful, enduring and good than all the
forces here on Earth. We will be a part of paradise."
"It
(John 3:16) means that having accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, I
have God's promise of eternal life, as well as the abundant life here
on earth that he promises to each of us in John 10:10."
"Sometimes
when I'm faced with an unbeliever, an atheist, I am tempted
to invite him to the greatest gourmet dinner that one could ever serve,
and when we finished eating that magnificent dinner, to ask him if he
believes there's a cook."
"Let
us pray for the salvation of all of those who live in their
totalitarian darkness -- pray that they will discover the joy of
knowing God. But until they do, let us be aware that while they preach
the supremacy of the state, declare its omnipotence over individual
man, and predict its eventual domination of all peoples on the earth,
they are the locus of evil in the modern world."
"I
draw strength from my belief in God and his teaching. That belief and
faith in the Almighty helps me to cope with a tragedy (Space Shuttle
disaster) like this."
"The
real crisis we face today is a spiritual one; at root, it is a
test of moral will and faith."
"How
can the leadership of the other side... open each session of their
great convention with an injunction to the Lord, and end each session
with a prayer to God, and still insist on denying that right to a child
in a public school?"
"Those
who created our country -- the Founding Fathers and Mothers --
understood that there is a divine order which transcends the human
order. They saw the state, in fact, as a form of moral order and felt
that the bedrock of moral order is religion. ... The truth is, politics
and morality are inseparable. And as morality's foundation is religion,
religion and politics are necessarily related. We need religion as a
guide. We need it because we are imperfect, and our government needs
the church, because only those humble enough to admit they're sinners
can bring to democracy the tolerance it requires in order to survive."
"[W]e
will never compromise our principles and standards. We will never
give away our freedom. We will never abandon our belief in God."
"We
kept faith with a promise as old as this land we love and as big as
the sky, a brilliant vision of America as a shining city on a hill.
(Matthew 5:14: "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hid.") Thanks to all of you, and with God's help,
America's greatest chapter is still to be written, for the best is yet
to come."
