PROMISE KEEPERS CONFERENCE
TRAVELS TO THE ISLANDS OF THE BAHAMAS
Families Invited to a Spiritual Awakening on Nassau/Paradise Island

Friday, September 30, 2005

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS (ANS) -- Promise Keepers, the international ministry for men, is carrying its message overseas and has selected the picturesque Islands Of The Bahamas as the site of its next international conference. Scheduled for November 11-12, 2005 at Nassau's Clifford Park, the event provides an ideal opportunity for passionate followers to celebrate their Christian values in a tropical paradise well-suited for families, bringing new meaning to the theme of 2005 conferences, "The Awakening - An Unpredictable Adventure."

Promise Keepers and Bahamian ministry leaders will offer the weekend awakening rally for Bahamian men and conference attendees who seek to build character, faith and the Bahamian community. Attendees are encouraged to participate in "good works," including the pre-conference Youth Outreach and other evangelical programs.

The Bahamas was selected as the site for the conference because it provides guests with an opportunity to combine a short-term mission trip, offering seminars designed specifically for men, women and youth, with exciting activities in a tropical locale. Families can arrive days before the conference or extend their stay and experience their own awakening on the beautiful beaches of Nassau and Paradise Islands (NPI). Water sports, indoor and outdoor shopping, and tours of many historical sites all abound on NPI.

Admission to the two-day "Bahamas Awakening 2005" is free and beginning November 7, there are a number of pre-conference community events available, including a women's tea party at the Government House and men's leadership training seminar. A sunrise prayer and golf tournament are some of the events happening during the conference in addition to:

* People-to-People Program - brings travelers and Bahamians together to encourage cultural exchange and provide a one-of-a-kind vacation experience. * 3-mile Health Run/Walk - Bahamian and PK families join together for this run/walk to Goodman's Bay (2.5 to 3 miles), followed by a brief worship service on the beach. * Women's Reception and Workshop - Mrs. Toni Fortson, the wife of Promise Keepers' president, and Mrs. Bernadette Claybourne, president of Behold His Glory, Inc., will host. Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Cynthia Pratt will deliver the keynote address. * Bahamas Awakening 2005 - Promise Keepers and Bahamian ministry leaders offer a weekend awakening rally in Clifford Park for Bahamian men and conference attendees.

Participants must pre-register for all events at www.promisekeepers.org  and will receive additional event-specific information as the dates approach.

Affordable accommodations during the conference can be booked at hotels and resorts on Nassau/Paradise Island, including the British Colonial Hilton, Wyndham Nassau Resort, Radisson Cable Beach & Golf Resort, Nassau Palm Resort, and the all-inclusive Holiday Inn Sunspree with rates as low as $65 per night, based on double occupancy (excluding taxes and fees).

Nassau/Paradise Island is easily accessible via major U.S. carriers, including American Airlines, American Eagle, Bahamasair, British Airways, Continental, Delta, JetBlue Airways, Song, Spirit Airlines, US Airways, and a number of charter airlines all fly to/from Nassau.
Bahamians and their Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Perry Gladstone Christie, are welcoming Promise Keepers with open arms and looking forward to not only sharing the country's many cultural attributes but also adopting the Promise Keepers mission of awakening men to their full potential. "Promise Keepers can positively impact us as we go through the process of grappling with what is a fundamental problem in the path of our development," commented Prime Minister Christie.

Dr. Thomas Fortson, president of Promise Keepers, expressed his organization's sentiments about coming to the Caribbean destination. "In casting a big picture for the world, we feel the Caribbean is a natural in terms of really putting our solid footprint in another country. We are coming in with our mission to ignite and unite men to passionately follow Jesus Christ."

Promise Keepers has directly reached more than five and a half million men in 15 years of conference outreach. Through more than 200 stadium and arena conferences, Promise Keepers encourages men to live godly lives and to keep seven basic promises of commitment to God, their families, and fellow men. The 700 islands of The Bahamas lie just off the coast of familiar.
