India Flood Relief Work

The river Godavari is flowing at 22.5 feet and rising. People are being evacuated/shifting from low–lying areas along the river. There was much devastation and the death toll has gone over 100 and rising.

A leading newspaper in India reports: The flood situation in coastal Andhra Pradesh remains grim with the Godavari breaching its banks and inundating more villages, leading to the navy pressing helicopters and boats to rescue the marooned. Since heavy monsoon rains triggered the floods  over 100 people have been killed in the state. Around 300 villages in East and West Godavari districts have been submerged. Thousands of people are homeless and crops have been badly damaged. Tens of thousands are also marooned in East Godavari, West Godavari, Khammam and Adilabad districts.

Pastor KLP Moses writes: Many of our Mission stations in these two districts have been affected by the floods. Most urgent prayers are needed. And any Financial Support for the cause of relief is highly appreciated and would be a great help to the Body of Christ in India while they are in distress and as flood victims.

Today the floodwater entered in our hometown and many areas around us. The situation is critical (as announced by TV news). People are afraid. I told my family not to worry because the situation is in the Lord’s Hands. He (Jesus) has protected us from dangerous situations many times in the past. So we can trust him now.

As of now floods have affected 36 (of our 64) Mission Centers. We sent rice packets through our volunteers to the victimized families. We're helping in every way we can. But we need the means to help more.
