"Every road leads to Rome!" Or so they say. And many would
say all paths lead to God. It's true that God has revealed Himself to many
people over the centuries and in many ways. Truth can be found in
the words and writings of many people.
So many ways. So many beliefs. I can't possibly believe them all. So
how can I know? If there really is a God, is it possible to actually KNOW
him? Could he possibly care about me? WHY does he seem so distant? Is there
any way to bridge the gap?
Most people I have met are somehow convinced that, "Yes, there
is a God." Some are very convinced that they actually KNOW him. Others
confess they would LIKE to know him.
There was a man who came to reveal God to us. He came about 2000 years
ago and made some incredible statements about himself. Such as:
"He who has seen me, has seen the Father."
"I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the
Father, but through me."
The man: Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
The remarkable thing is that those who have believed what he said have
seen significant changes in their lives. More importantly yet, they are
convinced that they actually met God and are developing an on-going relationship
with him. Either they are hopelessly deceived or they are on to something
that somehow needs to be communicated to the rest of the world. These include entertainers, professional athletes,
political leaders, business people, and many thousands of others
from literally every conceivable background.
Followers of Jesus believe that selfishness (sometimes called "sin")
causes barriers between people; and between people and God. They
believe that God is wanting the barriers to be removed even more than people
are wanting it removed. Those who know God are convinced that God sent
Jesus into the world to remove the barriers - for those who meet some very
simple, basic conditions. Many thousands witness to it giving them a whole
new lease on life.
Do you really want to know the conditions? The problem with telling
you is that knowledge of truth carries with it responsibility. Therefore
I suggest that you don't even continue reading unless you are willing to
take on a higher level of personal responsibility.
