Simple Steps to Knowing God

A. Acknowledge that you have been (or are) selfish, and that it has affected you, your relationships with others, and your relationship with God.

(See in the Bible: Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23; John 3:3-7.)

B. Believe that Jesus is God, not just a man, but the Lord and Saviour.

(See Isaiah 53; John 5:24.)

C. Confess your sins. Cry out to God from your heart as you repent of (turn from) your sins. Invite Jesus to be YOUR Lord and Saviour. Decide to stop living for yourself. Ask God to show you specific things you should make right; then be obedient.

(See: Deuteronomy 10:12; Luke 9:23-25; 13:3 and 5; II Corinthians 7:9-10; Romans 10:9-10.)

D. Determine to continue your new relationship with God through:
+ regular honest conversation with him from your heart (that's what people call "prayer"),
+ reading the Word of God (that's the main way God speaks to us) regularly, and
+ frequently getting together with other believers and worship God together (that's what "church" is supposed to be all about). There's probably some good ones near you.

(See Psalm 119:9-11; Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:23-25; Joshua 1:8.)

"Choose for yourselves today who you will serve... but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." A great political and religious leader made that statement many years ago (Joshua 24:15). You can make the same decision today.

Do it with an open mind and a sincere heart and you will never be the same! I can only say that with confidence because of my own personal experience, and that of everyone else's who has done the same.

This is the most important decision you will ever make.

Consider it seriously.

God loves you. He is waiting for your response.
