The Lord has been very good to us!

by: Pastor Joel B. Santos

Dearly Beloved Brethren;

"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now." (Philippians 1:3-5)

The Lord has been very good to us. In His mercy and grace He enabled us to reach this far. May your hearts be greatly encouraged to continue wrestling in prayers in our behalf for the expansion of God's ministries in the Philippines!

MindoroBIBLE SCHOOL

San Jose Mindoro. We are grateful to the Lord for the success of our Graduation ceremony held at San Jose Mindoro on May 18-21, 2007.  17 Students had finished Bachelor of Theology and Bachelor of Christian Education under OABIS. Prior to the said event, there was a 3-day Comprehensive Course conducted by Pastor Roberto Abella who taught Communication subject, Pastor Joel Santos who handled Inductive Expository Preaching and Pastor Wilfredo Asumen for the Pastoral studies. During our stay, Bethany Church Leaders called a special meeting and discussed with us about the possibility of starting a Satellite school in the place. The Bethany Church, more than 10 years ago, operated a bible school program named Bethany Bible Institute that offered 3-year course but due to some problems the program was discontinued. Their graduates are now our students in Bachelor of Theology program.  During our meeting, we agreed to give them authority to start a Bible School in the place and use our curriculum and promote the program in the island of Mindoro.

Last June 16, we have resumed the first trimester classes in Sta. Cruz,
Manila and Quezon City. We praise the Lord for the additional 6 students who enrolled this semester.

oaim 1oaim 2OAIM MISSIONS TRIP IN MANILA

We thank the Lord for the success of the 4-day Missions Trip of the  OAIM Ministry Team.  This mission trip was attended by OAIM contacts from USA, Canada and Pakistan who ministered to our children and young people’s group. The Team conducted a Youth Program in Sta. Cruz, Manila which was attended by FCC and ECCM churches. The program included testimonies, talent competitions and fellowship. The Team also fed hundreds of children in the slum areas of Tondo, preached the Word of God, shared food to the street people in Lawton, and visited the recipients of our Micro Enterprise Development Program. We thank the Lord for keeping them safe during their stay in our place.

FCC STREET JAM (JESUS AND ME) MINISTRY

Fairview Christian Church through a one-of-a-kind style of evangelism roams the key areas of Quezon City to share Jesus through music. Through this program, many young people have been converted and many have desired to join the group and regularly attend the church activities.

PRECIOUS HERITAGE CHILDREN’S HOME, INC.

We praise the Lord for another 5 children in Antipolo who became beneficiaries/recipients of Sponsor-A-Child (SAC) program of Mission Community Services. The children will receive monthly subsidy for their education and milk packs. We are also grateful to God for the funds provided by Pastor Scott Whitwam for the  purchase of a house in Baseco, Port Area Manila. We greatly appreciate all the efforts that he has done for our ministry. Baseco is a slum place, over populated, and home of the poorest families in Metro Manila.  The house we bought is being used for free by Pastor Roberto Magdaluyo for his house church ministry since March 2007.

We are doubly blessed because God has sent us a sponsor for Nino Vinson Pacia, a 10 year old boy who lives in our orphanage in Baseco. Please pray for Nino, that he can recover from emotional setback of broken family relationships. His mother left their family since he was infant while his father had three successive relationships and neglected Nino.  The boy before he was finally abandoned, was regularly beaten and hit by his father whenever the latter is drunk.  He acknowledged that his son has no future with him so he left Nino to PHCH.

Please pray that the Lord will continue to give us wisdom as we run our orphanage program.

prison1prison2TRIBAL AND PRISON MINISTRY IN MINDORO ISLAND

Two house leaders of our house church ministry in Mindoro Island are ministering with the Tribal (native people) group and Prisoners. Pastor Reynaldo Flores and his family are serving the Lord with the Hanonuo tribe in Murtha San Jose Mindoro. They are sharing the Gospel to more than twenty children and desire to help them in their education. Last October 2006, we visited the place located at the foot of a mountain and provided rice and can goods to some tribal families.
(Please see the attached recipient children of their ministry)

Prisoners detained in Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro,  (a 3-hour drive from the town of San Jose), regularly hear the Word of God being shared by Pastor Levy Gobrin.  50 or more prisoners regularly attend the service during Sunday morning and Bible studies in the afternoon. This coming October, we have a schedule to visit them and be able to bless them with our testimonies and God’s words.

PRAYER REQUESTS

1.      The upcoming launching of I-Believe Christian Basketball Association (CBA) in August 5, 2007. CBA is our sports ministry to evangelize those who like to play basketball.  During the pioneering stage of our ministry, we had actually started this program and was able to reach out many young people.   Please pray that Go d will provide all our needs to make this launching program a successful one.

2.      We are planning to build a small building for the children in Antipolo orphanage. Our old building is dilapidated and now unsafe for children to use. We are planning to build a small building suitable for seven children made of native and local materials. The cost of the project amounts to $2,000. We also pray that God will move people to help us in paying the 500 square meter lot we purchased in installment basis.

3.      Please pray that God would send us sponsors for our orphanage program in Baseco. Lately, we’ve been able to purchase a house for children through the courtesy of Pastor Scott Whitwam. We are about to house 5-7 children in the place.

4.      Two bicycles ($80 each) for our Pastors in Tondo and Oroquieta to serve as their means of transportation in conducting Bible Studies and visitations in the surrounding areas.

To God be the glory!
