On
the Death of Tom Landry
February 12, 2000
The death of Tom Landry has come as a
shock
to me and to Christians
everywhere.
Tom was one of the greatest Christian gentlemen I ever knew.
He was associated with me in many of my crusades and often went weeks ahead of us to address the leaders in each city and urged them to put their trust in God and support our ministry when we arrived.
His wife, Alicia, is the
granddaugther of
one of the greatest evangelists in
American history, Dr. R. A. Torrey, and
she helped inspire Tom toward
Christian service.
He will probably go down in sports
history
as one of the greatest football
coaches we have ever had.
I join with thousands of others not only in mourning his passing, but in the joy and anticipation of seeing him again in heaven.
